Maintenance Assistant

The ‘Estates’ section of the West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) are currently looking for a Maintenance Assistants to join their team.

Under the general direction of the Senior Maintenance Assistant the successful applicant will be required to carry out multi-trade building repair works and general building maintenance on all WMFS properties across the West Midlands region.

Job location: Fire Service Headquarters, 99 Vauxhall Road, Birmingham, B7 4HW

Working hours: 37 hours per week, flexi-time

Salary: £22,911- £24,799 per annum

You must be able to work off ladders, steps or scaffold and demonstrate a knowledge/understanding of all trades including plumbing, painting, carpentry, bricklaying, roofing and electrical work.

You must also have the ability to work unsupervised for long periods. You should possess a current clean driving licence and able to drive a large van. You will have good topographical knowledge of the West Midlands area as you will be required to work at different locations.

We require fully qualified trade personnel who hold trade qualifications in a relevant building trade (Advanced City and Guilds or similar) with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience, or alternatively a minimum of 10 years trade experience.
