Description

We are looking for 2 LGV/HGV Technicians.

Your role as am LGV Technician will involve the maintenance and repair of a wide range of vehicles and equipment operated by the West Midlands Fire Service, under the direction of the Principal Workshop Technicians.

You will be required to work a rotating pattern of 2 weeks of earlies followed by one week of lates.

Early work pattern 07.00hrs – 15.00hrs Monday - Thursday
07.00hrs – 14.30hrs Friday

Late Pattern 11.00hrs – 19.00hrs Monday-Thursday
11.00hrs - 18.30hrs Friday

Responsibilities

You main duties will include general servicing, safety inspections and ad hoc repairs to a mixed fleet of LGV, PCV, vans cars and ancillary equipment at our main workshop based in Perry Barr Birmingham, or on location at nominated departments or Stations within the West Midlands area.

You will be required to work to a consistently high standard and process all documentation associated within your role. You will also work individually or part of a team and instruct and mentor apprentices where necessary, ensuring that all area of the Health and Safety at works act 1974 and that safe working practices are adhered too at all times.

Qualifications

Applicants should have at least five years hands on experience in the repair and service of large goods vehicles; You will possess a full City and Guilds or technicians certificate, NVQ level 3 qualification in heavy vehicle maintenance plus a National Craftsman certificate/ Automotive Technician accreditation. In certain circumstances ‘time served’ will be considered.

You should ideally possess a current LGV class C licence and be prepared to participate in the Duty Technicians standby scheme for which a standby allowance and subsequent call-out payments will be made.
