Schools Education and West Midlands Fire Service

Our aim is to provide fire safety education to children across the West Midlands and to raise the awareness of the dangers of fire, particularly in the home.

We have a range of programmes and initiatives supporting this goal. Our proactive work includes:

  • visiting schools regularly to deliver fire safety education to different age groups
  • inviting schools to visit Fire Stations and Fire Safety Centres
  • attending school events, open days etc
  • inviting schools to theatre productions targeting arson prevention
  • providing materials and resources.

Our primary focus is Key Stage 2 school children, however we have a range of resources available for other age groups.

We have also produced a Special Educational Needs pack, where firefighters work with special schools, main stream schools with special needs groups, day care centres, activity and parent/carer groups and hospitals. For more information please download the information sheet at the bottom of the page.

Also available, is our recently updated, Nursery Box, which contains a range of materials for pre-school groups, again an information sheet is available at the bottom of the page

For further information on any of our educational resources or services please contact our West Midlands Fire Service Educational Team by email: education.team@wmfs.net
