Three rescued from Aston house fire

At 06:30 this morning (Tuesday 20 July), crews from Aston, Ladywood, Ward End and Smethwick fire stations were called out to a fire at a terraced house in Whitehead Road, Aston.

On arrival, firefighters rapidly rescued three people from the house using a tripple extension ladder pitched at a first floor window. At the same time two firefighters deployed a hose reel to quickly extinguish a small fire affecting the hallway. West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics treated all three casualties for the effects of smoke inhalation. A joint police and fire investigation has been launched.
