House fire, Moseley Road, Birmingham - update

Following yesterday morning's severe fire affecting properties in Moseley Road, Highgate, and the discovery of two bodies, fire crews have carried out a number of revisits throughout the night, using thermal imaging cameras to check for any remaining hotspots. Another revisit is due in daylight hours at around 08:00 hours today.

Fire Investigation Officers have been working with West Midlands Police scene of crimes officers throughout and investigations will continue for some time.

The initial call came in at around 04:05 yesterday morning. Five fire engines from stations around Birmingham were sent to the scene and on arrival, crews were confronted by a severe fire affecting a couple of two-storey semi-detached houses. With several people reported trapped in the properties, the number of fire engines was soon increased to eight.
