Firefighter Challenge

Are you ready for the Firefighter Challenge?

West Midlands Fire Service are looking for women to take part in our free teambuilding and fitness challenge. If you like being tested mentally & physically, or want an insight into the role of a firefighter, then read on!

In teams, you will be set to task on a variety of firefighter activities such as the cage crawl, equipment assembly, shuttle runs and locating a casualty hidden somewhere in our simulated smoke house!

If you cannot gather together enough people to make a team of 4 or 5 members, we can match you with other willing individuals on a session date of your choice.

Whoever completes the activities in the quickest time will then enter our West Midlands Fire Service league table. Big prizes await the team that survive until the Grand Slam in October 2010!

All you need to do is:

  • Find three of four female friends to make a team. You all need to be reasonably fit to participate. i.e be doing approximately 3 hours of exercise per week.
  • Choose a team name & team colours/theme!
  • Register your team by calling Helen on 0121 380 6231 or email on: helen.elmore@wmfs.net.   You will then be informed of the available session dates and times.  Firefighter Challenge sessions run from April - October 2010.   Due to high demand, your team will only be able to attend once initially.
  • Get your team to our Brigade Training Centre on Dartmouth Road in Smethwick and get ready to battle it out with the likes of Camp Hill Ladies Rugby Club.

Please note, the following health & safety conditions apply

  • All team members must be 17 years of age or over.
  • This event is not suitable for people suffering from claustrophobia as one activity takes place in a confined space.

    - A full health and safety brief will be given before the event starts due to the nature of the activities and you will be provided with firefighter kit.
